Saint Petersburg: Peter the Great

The Statue of Peter the Great that overlooks the Neva River.  A just wed couple came here to have their picture taken in front of the statue.  As a matter of fact, there were more stretched Hummer limos carrying brides and grooms (and their wedding parties) around Saint Petersburg for photo ops here there and everywhere than there were taxis.  Tourists were left to walking their feet to nubs, not even the public transportation was very reliable.  We read in the guidebook that the city was phasing out the “yellow” taxis, but it seems that they have not been replaced by much else.  The few times we stuck a hand out in hopes of getting a ride, we got turned down more often than a ride.
